![]() ![]() To the women and men who labored faithfully in God's Holy Name to organize this congregation known as Grace English Evangelical Lutheran Church, we dedicate this effort. This History is an attempt to recall and treasure our heritage as a congregation. We truly may celebrate GRACE, God's grace for us all. We thank those who have carefully kept the church records, clippings, photos and memorabilia that live within these pages. Through the years many dedicated pastors have offered their understanding of scripture and their various talents for leadership. Many, many lay people have shouldered the responsibilities of steering the congregation toward the goals of faithful worship, inspired education and loving service to those inside and outside the embrace of membership. There have been joyous times and those of heartbreaking contention. Membership has risen and it has fallen. Such is the life of the Church and the people of God. The Church began with the efforts of the followers of Jesus. It has been rooted in a vast variety of cultures around the globe. It has endured changes in society that brought about the demise of many other institutions. It has survived the attacks of skeptics and the hyprocrisy of its own members. The reason it has endured, and will continue to endure, is because it is the Body of Christ and not the creation of humankind. Led by the Spirit, we join those who founded this ministry more than 85 years ago. May we use our gifts, share our resources, and put our shoulders to the wheel in order to praise God and serve God's people. In the goodness and power of God's grace, we look forward to at least another 85 years.
