Let Our Talents and Tongues Employ

Sunday, July 19, 3:00 p.m.

The month of July is a time school children do not have access to school lunches. The foodshelves get over-tasked as the money gets stretched. Therefore, we at Grace have put an extra emphasis on gathering food during the month of July. We will keep a running count, updated weekly, of how much we gather.

July 19th has been designated as a special day to draw attention to our foodshelf emphasis. Barbershop Chorus, with Ron House, Jim Mohn and Larry Denson as members will be our featured music at the 9:30 morning service.

In the afternoon at 3:00 pm, we will be having a variety show. Singing, dancing, playing all kinds of music, plus exhibiting all types of talent that can be found at Grace.

We all have talents. It’s time to show them off. Painting, photography, woodwork, baking, quilting, writing poetry, all forms of self expression are welcome, all in the effort to feed those whose cupboards are getting bare. COME ONE, COME ALL AND HAVE FUN DOING IT.

Fill me in on your plans or just brainstorm with me. See you on Sundays or call me at 651-633-5247 in the evenings.

Pass the Locket

Katharine Richter and Nancy Zitzewitz extended an invitation to join in the challenge of growing hair to donate to Locks of Love. This is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. A hair prosthetic helps to restore a child’s self-esteem and confidence, enabling the child to face the world and peers.

Nancy was the first person who donated her hair to Locks of Love. In recognition she received a “locket of love” to wear. She passed the “locket of love” to Katharine, who was the next person who “cut it off”. Katharine then passed the locket on to Jessica Morris, who was the next in line to wear the “locket of love”. Please let Katharine, Nancy, or someone in the church office know, when you are ready for your turn to wear the locket. We hope to pass it on and on and on….

At any time if you wish to commit to donating 10 inches of hair for this worthy cause, please sign on the dotted line on the sign-up sheet next to the elevator in the Good Shepherd Lounge or notify Katharine or Nancy. (Shorter hair and gray hair is acceptable if … For further details, please see the information with the sign-up sheet or check out the website at www.locksoflove.org.)

Support is needed for all who commit. On a hot day, a bad hair day, or a heavy-headed day, the temptation may be to cut it off! Growers need support!

Let’s continue to pass the locket of love and most importantly, let’s support the children who benefit from Locks of Love!

Name Tags

The Outreach Committee members have assembled name tags for each member of Grace. We hope that by using them we will enable all of us to become better acquainted with one another. Please plan to pick up your name tag beginning Sunday, March 1st in the lower level church entrance. Church members are asked to be responsible for their tag; take the tag home after church and bring it each time you come to worship.
