THE
SACRAMENT OF HOLY BAPTISM
Lutherans
baptize in response to Jesus directing his disciples to, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). We believe that this Great Commission is the motivator
for Christian Baptism, as distinct from the baptism of John the Baptist.
(See "Why
was Jesus baptized?")
Sacramental Baptism — Word and water
Baptism is one of the two sacraments that mark Lutheran theology and
practice, the other being The Eucharist (or Holy Communion). We believe both to have been instituted by Jesus.
Are
you interested in a baptism? Please call the church at 651-774-9617.

Lutheran View:
"In Holy Baptism the Triune
God delivers us
from the forces of evil, puts our sinful self to death, gives us new
birth, adopts us as children, and makes us members of the
body of Christ,
the Church. Holy Baptism is received by
faith alone."

Use of the Means of Grace, Principle 14
